Harry and Meghan ‘to publish official Christmas snap despite quitting as royals’

Harry and Meghan reportedly plan to release an official Christmas snap despite no longer being senior members of the Royal Family.

The Sussexes – who left the UK in the spring before settling in California – will publish their festive photo alongside a holiday special podcast in the coming days, it has been claimed.

Omid Scobie, co-author of the couple’s bombshell summer biography, Finding Freedom, said: “There is this forthcoming Christmas card photo.

“I believe it is on its way.”

Discussing the couple on this week’s episode of his royal podcast Heirpod, London-based Mr Scobie said it was the season to “indulge” in new Royal pictures.

“We’ve got them in, we’re still waiting for the Sussexes’ card, I believe it is on its way, we obviously had a real treat last year with that really cute photo of Archie,” he told co-host Maggie Rulli.

Harry and Meghan’s 2019 e-card broke from tradition but was praised by many fans and commentators for showing off the couple and their son in a more down to earth fashion.

The adorable black-and-white photo featured baby Archie, then just seven months old, in the foreground crawling towards the camera, with his parents laughing as they watched on.

It was a far cry from the usually far more formal official photographs the royals release and came just weeks before the Sussexes announced their intention to step down as working royals.

Last week, Prince William and Kate released their official 2020 Christmas photo alongside kids George, Charlotte and Louis.

Prince Charles and Camilla have also published their own festive snap.

And despite long-running rumours of a rift between the two brothers, William and Harry are said to have shown signs of a Christmas truce by exchanging festive gifts for their families.

The Sussexes’ upcoming podcast – following a £30 million deal brokered with Spotify – is said to “highlight stories of hope, compassion from inspirational guests”.

The pair have already signed Meghan’s friend, Michelle Obama, for the ongoing podcast series, according to industry sources.

The mega-bucks multi-year golden handcuffs agreement is one of the largest signed in history for a newly formed podcast show.

The formation of their new audio production company, Archewell Audio and its partnership with the streaming giant, comes after the royal couple signed a Netflix deal over the summer rumoured to be worth more than £100 million.
